Job Description
The US Actuarial Services (AS) team consists of 175 credentialed life, health and non-life actuaries. We provide advice and consulting services to life and health insurers, non-life insurers, reinsurers, captives, banks, third-party administrators, regulators, agents and brokers, and bureaus and associations. We have extensive experience serving the domestic and international insurance industry, and assist insurers with actuarial modernization, process improvement, risk and capital management, value analyses, deals, and financial reporting.

Opportunities for interns exist in the Property & Casualty and Life insurance segments of our AS practice.

Position/Program Requirements
Minimum Year(s) of Experience: 0

Minimum Academic Requirements: Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, statistics, finance, economics, mathematics or similar quantitative disciplines
Preferred cumulative GPA: 3.3
Preferred Major GPA: 3.3.
Eligible students should be in the 3rd year of a 4 yr degree program or in the 4th year of a 5 yr program.
Client service interns typically join us during the winter/spring or summer prior to their intended graduation year.


Certification(s) Preferred: Before starting with PwC full time, will be eligible to sit for the primary credential exam appropriate for the appropriate practice area, such as having 150 credit hours to sit for the CPA exam in certain states.


Job Duties:
Play a role as an intern in PwC's core actuarial and insurance services provided to clients.
- Participate in select projects; demonstrate creative thinking and individual initiative;
- Cultivate teamwork dynamics through working as a team member: understanding personal and team roles; contributing to a positive working environment by building solid relationships with team members; and proactively seeking guidance, clarification and feedback; and,
- Demonstrate flexibility in prioritizing and completing tasks and communicating potential conflicts to a supervisor.


Job Requirements:
A basic understanding of actuarial science, applied statistics, risk and capital management, value analyses, and financial reporting standards, including in the following areas:
- Desire to pursue a career in actuarial consulting;
- Ability to demonstrate strong problem solving skills and the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks;
- Ability to interact with various levels of client and firm management in both written and verbal form; and,
- Ability to self-motivate and take responsibility for personal growth and development.
